Explore the capital of Macedonia and one of the most beautiful canyons in Europe
The driver/guide will pick you up from your hotel or any location of your preference in Ohrid. From there, we will drive through the western part of Macedonia. On our way, we will make a stop in Strazha, take a small break, and have the chance to taste the famous and unique pastry, called “mekica”. Before arriving in Skopje, we will visit the Matka Canyon, one of the most beautiful places in the environment. Here we can visit the church of “St. Andrew” and take a small boat ride to the Vrelo cave, or simply take a coffee break and relax in the local restaurant. After our arrival in Skopje, we will start our walking tour with the visit of the Skopje fortress, called Kale. We will visit the “St. Savior” church. Then, we will continue our tour through the Old Turkish Bazaar, where we will reveal the old part of Skopje. After that, we will continue on our way to the new part of the city, through the landmark of Skopje, the Stone Bridge. Here we will see lots of monuments and baroque buildings, including the Porta Macedonia, the statue and fountain of Alexander the Great, and many others. We will visit the place where Mother Teresa was born, and the memorial house made in her honor. Our walking tour will finish with the visit of the Archaeological Museum, the Holocaust Museum, or the Museum of the Macedonian struggle for independence. Both sides, the new and old ones, are rich in fine restaurants and diners, so we leave it up to you to decide, when or where to take the lunch break. In the end, we should have some free time for shopping, photographing or simply relaxing, of your own free will. We will drive back, and drop you off in any location of your preference in Ohrid.
